Browning Associates The Only Choice For Senior Executive Outplacement

Large Outplacement Firms; the Wrong Choice for Senior Executives!

Ask anybody that has been through a corporate sponsored traditional outplacement program and they will all tell you the same thing; Its useless!

Browning Associates partners exclusively with $200k+ Senior Executives exiting their current place of employment.  Since 1989 we have partnered with employers and transitioning executives in a successful effort to properly service the employer, but more importantly, to truly provide an aggressive executive search and marketing service that goes far beyond that of traditional large scale outplacement services.

Before choosing an outplacement company or before joining with the one your employer is presently contracted with, please review the following guidelines for choosing the right firm for you.

Guidelines for Choosing an Outplacement Company

  • Most, if not all traditional outplacement firms are strictly advisory driven IE: They provide advice with interviewing, networking and other general job search related activities. While these services may be useful, they do not aggressively position/promote your credentials or otherwise market you. When possible, choose firms that will place your credential submissions (résumé etc.) with large employers, growth firms, venture capitalists and recruiters.
  • Be sure you receive a written explanation of the exact services to be provided. This needs to include the guarantees for you and the guarantees for your corporate sponsor who is paying for the service.
  • Be sure that you understand the program and level of services your sponsor company has agreed to provide. If your sponsor doesn't offer everything you need, you may want to consider purchasing additional services.
  • Some outplacement firms employ part-time contractors to deliver their services. When possible, choose firms using their own full-time specialists who will be available to support you for up to one year.
  • All outplacement firms will offer their advice on how you should be marketed. The best firms will put their recommendations in writing; usually an eight to ten page document that summarizes their entire service suite and what services will be available to you.
  • Some outplacement firms only offer advice on how to write your own résumé. When possible, choose firms that will do the writing for you. This should also include executive branding documents and traditional self-marketing letters (cover letters etc.) with unlimited modifications as necessary along with a full admin and research function; your time is best spent interviewing potential employers not licking envelopes!
